Man's Best Friend

Since I've been babysitting, I have recently re-watched Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey, like... 8 times To my surprise, the kid I watch actually likes it
And it dawned on me... I HAVE NOT POSTED ANY ART WORK FROM THIS FILM!
I ADORE THIS MOVIE!!

When I was younger, I made a ton of fan art from this movie that has long-since been either lost or destroyed _{(by me )} so... I figured, hey, why not make another piece?
I always loved the lighting in this scene... the sunset, the water, his dark figure outlined in pink light... it was always beautiful... 

Art Wise: This was so fun to make! I love warm colour palettes and I tried as best as I could to recapture that contrast! I still have issues making water... maybe that'll be the next thing I'll practice more of!
I have to say, I really feel like I've come a long way in 15 years... Hmm? Oh, where I got that number? Yeah, the last Homeward Bound picture I made, I was in the third grade and that was... quite a while ago
Anyways, I had oodles of fun making this... well... except for the pieces of shrubbery there Those were kind of a pain lol

Content Wise: Shadow, the wise old Golden Retriever, mourns the loss of Sassy, the little Himalayan cat and tells Chance why he feels so responsible for her:

Shadow: I shouldn't have made her come...

Chance:   It's not your fault... She wanted to come.

Shadow:   But it's my responsibility... I had a responsibility to Sassy; to love her... and protect her... The same as I have to you... and to Peter... And the same as you have... to Jamie.

Chance:   But-- [Sigh] We didn't ask for this job.

Shadow: We didn't have to... It's built in. Has been ever since the dawn of time, when a few wild dogs took it upon themselves to watch over man. To bark... when he's in danger... To run and play with him... when he's happy... To nuzzle him... when he's lonely... That's why... they call us 'Man's Best Friend.'

Me: _{Not gonna lie, this scene gets me almost EVERY time!}
