HOLY CRUD!
THIS EPISODE SQUEEZED IN THIS MUSHY MOMENT IN THE LAST 5 MINUTES OF GAME OF TONES AND GAAAAHHH!!
Made me cry
I mean, again, the idea that Fry has just a moment... a SINGLE moment to speak to his loved ones; in this case, HIS MOTHER!
How many of us wouldn't KILL for that opportunity?!
The voice acting from Billy West and Tress MacNeille REALLY sold me on this; I believed EVERY emotion that was expressed... that along with the animation and music made this moment all the more emotionally poignant
---------------------------------------------------------------
[Fry tosses and turns in sleep moaning uneasily. In his dream he steps into his old living room as his mother intensively watches a football game wearing a large cheese hat]
Fry: Hi, Mom...
Mrs. Fry: Hi, sweeite. You want some crackers and a slice of hat?
Fry: N-no, thanks. L-listen, um... I never got the chance to talk to you... Do you have a few minutes?
Mrs. Fry: Sure, honey. You're the most important thing in my life, once this game is over.
[Mrs. Fry pats her hand on the couch as a gesture for Fry to sit next to her, to which he does]
Fry: Ugh, what's the point? What good is it to talk to her in my own dream?
Announcer: And that's it! Wisconsin has defeated Stanford, 17 to 9 in the 2000 Rose Bowl! What an occasionally exciting way to start the new millennium!
Mrs. Fry: WOOOOO!!
Fry: Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a second... I never saw that game. It happened after I got frozen! How can I be dreaming it in such detail?
Nibbler: [Fades in next to Fry] Because this isn't your dream... it's your mother's dream.
Fry: Wha-whuh-whoa... What?
Nibbler: I told you we would reward you. Make it count, my friend... [Bows his head with a smile and fades away]
Fry: [Turns to his Mother in amazement, holding back tears] Mom...? There's so much I need to say... Is it really you?
Mrs. Fry: [Tenderly touches her hand to Fry's face] Yes... I've dreamed about you a lot since you disappeared... What did you want to tell me?
Me:
---------------------------------------------------------------
Now, here's a piece of music that surprisingly fits... --> www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDddOP…
well, from the beginning till 0:50, then switches to a more energetic, HOLY-AMAZEMENT-WE-GOTTA-HURRY-NOW type of emotion... I just cut that part with my audio program and listen to the sweet, sweet orchestral strings
BUT STILL!!
The idea that you don't realize you have something special until it's gone and that... given the chance to reconnect with that special thing/person, it breaks your heart AND lifts you up at the same time
Anyways, please comment and enjoy!
