I Didn't Mean To...

The weather here has been VERY gloomy So, yeah... inspired this picture.

This is Toboe from the second episode of Wolf's Rain; and it's actually the first time we meet Toboe...
Toboe decides to thank a young girl that was nice to him and fed him when he was hungry by retrieving her pet bird that flew out a window... unfortunately, not knowing his own strength, when he restrained the bird from flying away... he accidentally killed it. He gave it to her, only realizing AFTER giving it to her that it was dead...

[The hawk starts picking at a mouse. Toboe lunges at it and bites its wings to hold it down; Lyra hears the ruckus and runs over to him. Toboe, now in human form, smiles brightly as he runs over to Lyra with her bird in his arms]

Toboe: Lyra! [He hands her the hawk] Here. It's your bird.

[Lyra holds the bird in her arms; her face betrays sadness and shock upon seeing that her bird is dead.]

Toboe: [He looks down at the bird and slowly reaches his hand to it, gently shifting it] Hey... wake up. [It doesn't move or make a sound. He gasps and looks at Lyra] Lyra...

Lyra: [In a dumbfounded, sorrowful tone] He's dead... my bird's dead...

Toboe: But I... I-I didn't mean to kill him, I swear. [Lyra stares at him, shocked at what he said. He then starts to whimper; trembling, he drops to his knees, on the verge of tears] I knew it was yours, and I just wanted to... I-I didn't think it would die.

[Toboe begins to cry, unable to hide his true form, he reverts to his lupine appearance; Lyra's eyes widen in horror. Toboe howls mournfully before her. Tsume, passing by, sees this and quickly pulls Toboe away, running away with him so no more attention is drawn to him. Lyra is left frozen in shock.]

Omg I felt SO bad for poor Toboe... he didn't mean to kill it...
But the music is beautiful... and the emotion behind the dialogue is very real!

And OMG!!! Anime tears are hard to colour!!!

'Cause in the shot, like real life, Toboe's tears were see-through; they weren't hard to draw, but when it came to Photoshopping... it took me almost 20 minutes to find the right colour/blurryness/texture/shimmer, etc....
