A Soldier

WELL! I decided to try and draw the soundtrack cover from The Wolverine because OH, MY GOSH! IT JUST LOOKS UNBELIEVABLY COOL!

Ok, this'll be the last Wolverine pic I do for a while... this one really wore me out, man... took almost a week to finish...


I just gotta say... drawing Logan without his shirt...

Ho.. ly... CRAP!

His shoulder, the proportions of his head and neck, his back, his forearm, his hand... ARGH!

It was SO frustrating for me... My general rule of thumb is to start with the eyes; well... it was all in shadow, so that comfort zone was thrown out the window.
So, I started with his forehead. Then from there I did his head/hair and got to his shoulders and... it ate up SO much of my time and patience; I kept making it too small, too big, too pointy, to round...
It took a LONG time to get it down... But once I did...
*sigh*
It was indeed very satisfying, even if it may not be 100% right
Once the drawing was done, the REAL fun came fron actually colouring it... It was SO great playing with the brightness/contrast settings.
And to make the splatter, I was fooling around with the spacing setting with the brush tools... it's fun to experiment!

Btw, I noticed that there was a mist in the background with the rain, so, remembering a technique some Disney animators mentioned once, I copied the rain, placed it in an under-layer, then I blurred and smudged it to oblivion!
So... yeah, that seemed to work well enough...

I am VERY VERY HAPPY WITH HOW THIS CAME OUT OVERALL!
